Your Daily path

Day 01 - Welcome to the Island

Land at Bandaranaike International Airport and begin the adventure immediately with a short drive to Negombo, a cheerful beach town full of colour and life. Young explorers can dip their toes in the lagoon during a relaxed boat ride, spot fishing boats at the harbour or simply run along the beach as the sun dips below the horizon and the stars begin to appear. Overnight in Negombo

Day 02 - Cave Temples & Jungle Lodges

Head deeper into the island’s cultural heartland, stopping en route at the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five ancient caverns filled with gilded Buddhas and vivid murals. Children will be wide-eyed with wonder. Continue to Sigiriya and settle into a nature eco-lodge surrounded by trees, bird calls and the gentle hum of the jungle beyond the garden fence. Overnight in Sigiriya

Day 03 - Kingdoms, Canoes & Cooking Pots

Older kids brave the climb up Sigiriya Rock Fortress for panoramic views of the jungle and lakes, and smaller ones enjoy the gardens below just as much. The afternoon belongs to the village: rumble along country paths on a bullock cart, paddle across a lagoon in a canoe, and gather around a fire to cook a true Sri Lankan meal with local families who genuinely love visitors. Overnight in Sigiriya

Day 04 - Wheels Through Ancient Ruins

A short drive brings the family to Polonnaruwa, where ancient palaces and towering Buddha statues line quiet pathways through the jungle. Hop onto bicycles; even the smallest riders can join on a tag-along and pedal through history at a gentle pace. Enjoy a lakeside picnic by the ancient reservoir before returning to Sigiriya for a relaxed evening under the stars. Overnight in Polonnaruwa

Day 05 - Kings, Dancers & Spicy Aromas

Wind upward into the hills toward beautiful Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, its golden rooftop gleaming above the surrounding lake. As night falls, enjoy a traditional Kandyan dance performance – vibrant costumes, fire-breathers, and drummers create a mesmerising spectacle that will captivate young audiences. Overnight in Kandy

Day 06 - Waterfalls, Mist & Tea Biscuits

Climb into the mountains on a scenic drive threading through lush tea plantations. Stop at the spectacular Ramboda Falls, where cool mist rises from the plunge pool far below. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya for a proper tea estate visit; children love seeing how tea leaves are picked, processed, and transformed into the cup they sip at the end of the tour. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya

Day 07 - The World's Most Fun Train Ride

Clamber aboard the famous scenic train from Nuwara Eliya toward Ella and settle in for one of the world’s great rail journeys. Lean out of open doors (safely!) to feel cool mountain air, wave at farmers in paddy fields, and gasp as the train inches across viaducts above misty valleys. Arrive in Ella, delightfully tired, for a light walk and early family rest. Overnight in Ella

Day 08 - Sun, Sand & Southern Shores

Trade mountain cool for sun-warmed sand as the family drives down to the south coast – either Mirissa or Tangalle, depending on preference. Check into a family-friendly beachfront resort where little ones can build sandcastles, splash in the shallows, and enjoy an evening swimming as the sky transforms into shades of orange, pink and gold on the horizon. Overnight in Mirissa

Day 09 - Full Family Freedom

There is no agenda today – just pure, unhurried beach bliss. Older children can try kayaking, while the whole family can climb aboard a glass-bottomed boat to peer at reef fish darting below. Spend the afternoon alternating between naps under palm trees and swimming in warm, gentle waves. Watch the sunset together from the shore, an unmissable family moment. Overnight in Mirissa

Day 10 - Last Waves & Island Farewell

Linger over a breakfast of fresh tropical fruit before the leisurely coastal drive back to Colombo. An optional pit-stop at Galle Fort allows the family one last ramble through Cobblestone Streets, perhaps picking up a souvenir or two. A final cafe stop, some last-minute shopping and then the airport, carrying home a trove of shared memories and sand in your shoes.
